YEAR 3

Here we are back at school for the 3rd term and well and truly refocused into school mode. Students are very keen to do their best and learn as much as they can. The secret to success will be how well each child is organised and prepared for learning.

Of course, different preparations and planning will work best for some and not others. These tips outlined here will help the students to ease into the demands of school and homework routines.

This term, some of the grade threes will be attending a spelling contest with other similar aged students from Sirius College campuses in Melbourne.

Additionally, we have a grade three/four camp to Bendigo in the first week of September. This will be a lot of fun as many activities are planned for this.

Book Club week will be on in the same week as our camp and students can dress up as their favourite character at the end of that week.

Students should continue learning their weekly spelling words. The words are getting harder!

We have started our elective program again and one group is working in the garden for this term. They’re learning to appreciate their surroundings and beginning to understand how to maintain some of the garden beds.

There is a photo of students dressed in clothes that resemble in some way the things they might find in their garden.

“I like the garden at the front of the school. It is fun to work in and I like to pull the weeds out”.

“I remember when we use to pick the lemons off the lemon tree and take them home. We can do that again next term because it will be springtime and the lemons will grow and then we can pick them.”

“This tree has grape leaves and I know the Arabic name for it. We mush the fruit from this tree and put salt and sugar on it. You can have it hot or cold. It is yummy!”

“I chose this mandarin tree because it is in a good spot in the sun. The leaves are bright green. I like to eat mandarins.
